| he aim of the SIA (Security Industry Authority), the UK licensing authority for the private security industry, is to increase the skill and professionalism of those employed in the Security Industry and to enhance the public’s consumer confidence. Therefore anyone carrying out CVIT, CCTV/PPS, Door Supervision, Security Supervision, Security Guarding, Security Consulting, Close Protection, Key Holding, Private Investigation or Vehicle Immobilizing and Wheel Clamping, must hold a valid SIA license. You will need a SIA license from the Security Industry Authority if you wish to work as a Security Officer or a door supervisor and are responsible for security, protection or screening the suitability of persons entering license premises or dealing with conflict in pubs, clubs and other license premises open to the public. Whether you are already working as a Security Officer or Door Supervisor but are yet to receive SIA training, or you are considering work as a Security Officer or Door Supervisor, you need to be SIA licensed as a Door Supervisor or a Security Guard. It is now illegal to work as a Security Officer or Door Supervisor without SIA Security license. | Few employers would be prepared to undertake the risk of employing responsible security personnel without a valid UK recognized first aid qualification. First aid qualifications are not specifically designed by the SIA, however it is specified by the HSE under Health and Safety Law. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT EVERY SECURITY OFFICER HOLDS AN APPOINTED PERSON / EMERGENCY FIRST AID CERTIFICATE.
