SIA Training Course Core Content

The SIA Training course content is divided into two SIA Training units.  The two SIA training units cover the following core SIA information:

Unit 1:

Learning from Conflict

Your qualified SIA trainer will teach you through ready to use SIA activities to learn from conflict. As a SIA  door supervisor/security guard license holder you will have to deal with many moments where conflict will arise.  Learn a range of skills through conflict in this SIA training course subject.

Introduction to SIA and SIA security

SIA stands for Security industry authority.  The SIA manages the licensing of the private security industry as set out in the Private Security Act of 2001.  Your SIA trainer will go over the details of legislation and registration in a basic overview of the SIA and SIA security for door supervisors and security guards.

The SIA Law relevant to the SIA industry

As mentioned above, the SIA Private Security Act of 2001 governs the SIA.  Matters such as SIA licensing requirements, SIA primary legislation and conditions attached to your SIA license are dealt with in this SIA training module by your SIA trainer. This is vital for every SIA license holder that wants to work as a door supervisor or security guard or bouncer.

SIA licensing requirements

In order to qualify as a SIA approved door supervisor or security guard and receive your SIA license, there are several SIA requirements that you will need to fulfil as a SIA student. Your SIA trainer will introduce all the SIA requirements to you.

Controlling entry to premises according to SIA standards

If your intention as a SIA student is to become a SIA door supervisor or security guard or bouncer, you will be required to control the entry to premises according to SIA standards.  In this SIA training course the SIA standards will be set out to all the SIA door supervisor/bouncer/security guard students.

SIA Health and Safety

First Aid training should be an essential skill that every SIA door supervisor/ security guard student should be able to supply.  During this SIA module health and safety issues will be discussed with the SIA students.

SIA Fire Procedures

The importance of knowing the venue’s fire and evacuation procedures is crucial for the SIA security guard/door supervisor student.  You will have to manage Fire safety  and do a SIA fire risk assessment amongst other SIA procedures.

Customer service the SIA way

Effective communication and customer service is pivotal in the working life of a SIA operator.  Your SIA qualified SIA instructor will demonstrate real life SIA practicalities.

Searching people and their property as per SIA standards

The SIA recognizes the importance to value the right of people to be secure in their persons.  Basic SIA search procedures will be explained, as well as types of SIA searches and SIA search documents, all of which are crucial to door supervisors and security guards alike.

SIA Arrest procedures

SIA arrest procedures should follow the SIA licensing act as set out in the SIA Private Security act of 2001 that governs the SIA.  All security SIA students must be able to define an arrest able offence and be drugs aware.  

SIA Conflict Management

 As a SIA qualified and SIA licensed SIA door supervisor/security guard/bouncer operator, you will be in direct line of conflict and will have to be able to manage and successfully solve it.  During this SIA training course module, your SIA instructor will train you to do just that.

UNIT 2:

Introduction to SIA Communication Skills and Conflict

Introduction and application of communication skills the SIA way is very important.  After this SIA training module the door supervisor/security guard SIA student will be able to identify verbal and non-verbal communication and identify different types of behaviour.

SIA Self-awareness

You will learn life skills during your SIA door supervisor/security guard training course that will boost your self confidence and communication skills.  

Avoiding Conflict

Your SIA training instructor will teach you SIA techniques to avoid unneeded conflict situations and how to negotiate instead. On completion of this SIA module your SIA instructor will have shown you the methods how to avoid conflict.

Effective SIA Communication and SIA Customer Service Skills

You will learn how to effectively communicate with public and learn the SIA customer service skills.  Your SIA training course will particularly show you how to deal with difficult customers.  

Recognizing and Defusing Conflict

The key in this SIA Training course module is for SIA door supervisors/security guards to recognize that conflict exists, and depending on the situation and type of conflict, to employ a viable SIA solution that will effectively negate the conflict. Your qualified SIA trainer will show you that Communication is the key to avoiding conflict and the best means of resolving conflicts when they arise.

Maintaining Space

For the SIA door supervisor/security guard, maintaining personal space can help avoid and defuse conflict. SIA training course content deals with maintaining space in this SIA module.

Defusing High Risk Conflict

You will actively learn skills how to listen, buy time, assess situations and problem solving during this SIA training course module.

SIA Conflict Resolving

Processes of SIA conflict resolution generally include negotiation, mediation, and diplomacy.  The key elements to SIA training conflict resolving will be priceless skills you will use.
